Prorate Fees Must Be Paid Prior to ICBC Issuing Licence & Insurance Effective January 1 2018

ICBC recently notified brokers and motor carriers by letter that it will no longer be allowing a seven day grace period to pay a prorate invoice when purchasing or renewing insurance, and will instead require payment at the time of the transaction. The change takes effect as of Monday, January 1, 2018.

Be Truck Aware Campaign Runs Through October 2017

As part of BC's road safety strategy, the Be Truck Aware campaign recently launched on October 17th in Pitt Meadows at the Justice Institute of BC.  The campaign's goal is to reduce car-truck crashes in BC and promote safe driving practices.  Heightened enforcement is also a part of this campaign, targeting all drivers on the road as part of Operation Safe Driver week.  Passenger vehicle drivers are being asked to:

Updated Commercial Transport Policy Manual now available

A revised version of the Commercial Transport Procedures Manual is now available through the Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement website.

While most changes are administrative in nature, a few changes of note include:

Safe Driver Week is October 15 to 21

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s annual Operation Safe Driver Week takes place this year from October 15 to 21, 2017. During this time, law enforcement will be identifying and issuing warnings or citations to commercial motor vehicle and passenger vehicle drivers who show unsafe driving behaviors.
