Make Sure Registration Info in ACE/DTOPS Accounts is Accurate for Border Checks

US Customs and Border Protection has recently advised that officers are seeing an uptick in trucks at the border with a "Not Paid" transponder status, when it turns out the carrier does in fact have a valid annual or single user fee payment filed.

The error stems from the fact that the licence plate number and vehicle identification number (VIN) filed with the Decal/Transponder Online Procurement System (DTOPS) must match the records in the Automated Commecial Environment (ACE) exactly.  If those numbers do not match, the transponder will not work.  In most cases, the problem appears to be occuring when there is a mismatch in the VIN number that was submitted by the carrier.

If a driver has a problem with their transponder at the border, carriers are being asked to verify the data in the DTOPS account matches the truck information in ACE and that both match the truck's actual registration information.  Ensure that a mismatch in either system is corrected to reflect what is on the vehicle registration.

Errors in DTOPS can be fixed by calling the DTOPS Helpdesk at 317-298-1245.  Errors in ACE will require a CBP work ticket be opened to have the incorrect record deleted; you can remove the relationship to the incorrect VIN from within the ACE portal account and then search for the correct VIN.
